Who is Ebony?
I’m an abstract artist with a deep appreciation of simple geometry and the raw, natural beauty of Australian timber art.
I founded ebony artPlay in 2014, after more than a decade of working with world-class educational toy brands. My time studying and arranging open-ended block systems had taught me how to play again. I rediscovered the pleasure of stretching my creative mind.
I’ve now applied my knowledge, experience and skill to provide sustainable and evolving methods of creating modular fine art.

Responsibly sourced
Only the finest, most unique pieces of premium timber from around the country that can be sustainably salvaged and repurposed, are personally hand-picked.
As recycled wood may contain metal fragments or harmful preservation chemicals, all pieces are created from virgin timber.
Every ebony artPlay piece has a history, with collections crafted to draw the natural beauty from wood that may have otherwise gone to waste.
Locally made
With a commitment to sustainability, all series are proudly Australian designed and are produced by homegrown artisans using locally grown timber.
Set pieces are constructed in a small workshop in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, with expertise in traditional wood-crafting methods.
Best of all, every piece has a story to tell: from the moment the wood is found to the first cut. Everything happens locally.
